Dear friends,
We're excited to be able to share fantastic news with you today: Mattel and Barbie have dropped deforestation!
Mattel has just revealed a global policy that will keep rainforest destruction out of its supply chains. That includes no longer using products from notorious forest destroyer Asia Pulp and Paper (APP) - or any other companies "that are known to be involved in deforestation". Mattel is the largest toy company in the world and today it has sent a message to other companies that to be a responsible business you must be vigilant about keeping deforestation out of your products.
This is a powerful step forwards in efforts to protect Indonesia's rainforests. We'll continue to continue to investigate, track and document forest destruction, link it to corporate practices and pressure companies to clean up their act.
And we know you'll be there with us. Thank you for helping to bring attention to the plight of Indonesia's rainforests with your amazing response to this Barbie drama!
Thanks again from all of us on the Forests team! Greenpeace International
